The covid 19 has been anything but smooth sailing.
Since the beginning of the chaos, our habits have changed. The way we consume, do business and live our life has taken a complete 360 turn. Our connection with our previous way of life is almost disconnected and the longing for it also has gone as we accommodate ourselves to the new world.
We used to live in a world where we’re connected through movie theaters, skating through parks with our friends, going for Starbuck runs, spending time at the cyber cafe, competing with one another in real-life casinos, and enjoying everyday life.
The definition of everyday life does no longer includes the same old Starbucks coffee run and in-store shopping hauls. Today because of coronavirus, our entertainment is reserved within the walls of our home. The way we keep ourselves entertained after work and on weekends is heavily dependent on digital advancement. Instead of going up to Genting highlands for a fun casino night, we rely on online casino in Malaysia. Starbuck runs are replaced with online food and drink deliveries to our doorstep. We had to find other means to replace the happiness of going to a cafe’ during a nice breezy evening. The replacements came in the form of our beloved laptops, smartphones, and other smart technologies at home.
Our internet usage has reached an all-time high during this pandemic. Businesses that were forced to close down had to find new means to carry on their business online. The digital wave did not only apply to the younger generation. The entire of the older generation began to warm up to using more and more internet. People are cutting their TV cords and switching to Netflix for more entertaining content. Book sales took a dive as more are looking at Ebook options to build their virtual libraries.
As more and more people stayed home within close quarters, we are also forced to find comfort and enjoyment with the people in our homes. Since movie theaters are closed, there was no such thing as family movie theater nights. Rather we now have family Netflix nights in our pajamas. Or we have board game nights with our parents. Being in such close proximity has given us the opportunity to bond with one another.
It is predicted that the way we changed our habits during lockdown has some long-lasting impacts in the post-pandemic world. More people are addicted to online entertainment and ordering in than going outside. The world has now entered and experienced the hybrid world where we combine the online world with the offline world. The same goes for our working lifestyle. People have a certain expectancy that the hybrid method will take a long-lasting stance in our everyday life. Whether it be work and even entertainment.
Our entertainment habits also changed as the type of content we consumed during the pandemic drastically changed. While many got addicted to late-night rom coms and board games, others got addicted to cooking shows, fitness regime videos, and even art and craft ones. The exposure, education, and awareness we got through online entertainment services are going to stick with us for a very long time.
